WHAM (Waste Highland Action Minimisation) are based in and around the Inverness area. They are a partnership of the Highland Environmental Network, BTCV and CSV. They employ 3 part-time project officers who work with the local communities and schools across the Highland area. The current schools project 'Practical Solutions' operates in 25 - 30 schools and is part-funded by the E.U.

Working closely with the Highland council WHAM distributes compost bins and advice on how to get the most out of your composting system. To date around 2000 of these bins have been distributed through events held in partnership with local community councils.

They have recently completed their website and it's full of useful information on waste in the Highlands and on the projects that they are involved in, so well worth checking out at www.whamweb.org.uk
