Waste Aware South Lanarkshire - Glass Kerbside Recycling

The South Lanarkshire glass kerbside recycling scheme began in January 2005. A reusable glass recycling scheme has been provided to 13,000 households in South Lanarkshire for the collection of glass.

WHAT can I recycle?

Please put the following recyclates (materials that can be recycled) into your glass recycling sack:

  • Rinsed glass bottles
  • Rinsed glass jars

(Please ensure that all lids are removed.)

Please do not put the following in your glass recycling sack:

  • Other types of glass eg. window panes, drinking glasses
  • Broken glass
  • Plastic bags
HOW should I recycle?
  • Please take special care when filling or moving your glass recycling sack to avoid the possibility of injury from broken glass.
  • Please ensure you store your glass recycling sack in a secure location i.e. in your house or garage.
  • Only place your glass recycling sack out on the morning of the day it is due to be collected, not the night before.
  • Please ensure your glass recycling sack is placed in a visable postion within the confines of your property. (Special instructions will be given to flatted properties.)
WHEN can I recycle?

Collection will take place on the same day as your residual waste bin (week marked in grey in your collection calendar).
