On this site, you will find information about waste, and how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in the areas covered by Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and the Moray Council.
A new campaign was launched in August to encourage people in Grampian to ‘ Switch from disposables to reusables’.
‘Got up. Shaved. Then chucked the razor in the bin. Had a shower. Got changed. Had a coffee, spilt most of it on the table. Cleaned it up with one of those disposable wet wipe thingies. Chucked it in the bin. Got the bus. Listened to my personal stereo. Batteries went flat. Chucked them in the bin. Bought new ones. Carried them in a plastic bag to work. Chucked the plastic bag in the bin. Then chucked the batteries’ plastic wrapping in the bin. Went out, bought sandwich, apple and orange at lunchtime. Took them back to the office in a plastic bag. Chucked the plastic bag in the bin. Chucked plastic packaging from sandwiches in the bin. Took apple and orange out of another, small plastic bag. Chucked it in the bin…’
Have you ever stopped to think about just how much you’re throwing away? You can cut down by simply switching from disposables to reusables. And, since they’re cheaper in the long run, you’ll throw away less money too.
There are numerous other ways that you can cut down the amount of waste you produce. To find out what you can do in your area, follow the links on the left-hand side for Reduce and Reuse.
