Swap Shop
The Gorbals Swap Shop, Glasgow
On the 22nd of October 2004, Sarah Lee and Colin Wilson from the SWAG team went along to a swap shop held in the St Frances Centre in the Gorbals.  The day was intended to gauge the need for a community swap shop.  Art workshops were held for children and Sarah and Colin ran Waste Aware quizzes and wordsearches about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

These activities supported the main event which involved people from the community bringing along clothes, toys and household goods to swap.  The swap shop was an excellent example of reuse practice.
Woodcraft Fair, West Dunbartonshire
On the 19th of October, Paul Martin from the SWAG team went to the Woodcraft Fair run by West Dunbartonshire Green Space.  Various environmental organisations had displays and ran workshops.  Paul brought along quizzes and wordsearches about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, which were well recieved by local children, as were the prizes!

St Elizabeth's Primary School, South Lanarkshire
On the 29th of September 2004, Paul Martin and Sarah Lee from the SWAG team visited St Elizabeth's Primary School in Hamilton.  They told Primary 7's and Primary 4's about the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) and the pupils enjoyed playing the 'Waste Busters Challenge' game and taking part in a quiz.  Paul and Sarah were very impressed by the way the pupils had reused bottles of water to make bottles of bubbles!

'Big Bird Day', North Lanarkshire
On the 3rd of October 2004, Paul Martin from the SWAG team went along to 'Big Bird Day' at Hogganfield Loch near Stepps.  The event had many educational and fun stalls, including Waste Aware Scotland quizzes.  Face painting and a petting zoo were among the other attractions that made this event, organised by the Glasgow Countryside Rangers, a memorable, fun family day.
