You can site your wormery outside the kitchen door, or even in the kitchen - worms can eat up to half their own body weight every day, so there will be no unpleasant odours.

You can feed the following materials to your worms:

  • Bread & cake
  • Coffee grounds & tea bags / leaves
  • Egg shells
  • Fruit & vegetable waste
  • Hair, feathers & fur

Worms like to work in the fresh waste near the surface so you should harvest worm casts once in a while. The way you harvest your worm casts will depend on the type of wormery you have. When you buy a wormery you should get an instruction booklet. Please consult this booklet to find out how best to harvest worm casts for your particular wormery. If you do not have this booklet or have lost it, you can phone us for help.

The contents of your wormery need to be kept moist but not wet at all times.
