INCREASE Programme Regional Launch - Dumfries
On Tuesday 9 th November, Colin Wilson from the SWAG team attended one of the regional launches of the INCREASE programme in Dumfries. This programme aims to help community groups create wealth from their waste and will support community-based Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, composting and waste education projects across Scotland. The Scottish Executive is providing £5 million of funding through this innovative programme to assist community-based organisations in their role in the delivery of sustainable waste management in Scotland. Working in partnership with the Community Recycling Network for Scotland (CRNS), the Scottish Executive are seeking to make investment awards to community groups to allow direct development of local initiatives to increase recycling, reuse and composting consistent with the delivery of the National Waste Plan. Community organisations can apply either to the small grant programme or the larger, strategic investment fund. CRNS will provide development support for all organisations applying for support from INCREASE. Speakers at the launch event in Dumfries included Ian Gulland (CRNS), Moira Wetherup (Solway Heritage) and Colin Campbell (Senscot).
