Western Isles: Introduction

This Waste Strategy Area consists of the area covered by Western Isles Council.

In 1999 30,000 tonnes of waste were produced from this area. Around 28,000 tonnes of waste are sent to landfills - mostly at the Bennadrove landfill near Stornoway.
