South Ayrshire Kerbside Recycling

The South Ayrshire kerbside recycling scheme begins on the 23rd Febuary 2004. From the 9th Febuary 2004, residents of South Ayrshire will start to receive their new kerbside bins/box. A blue bin has been provided for the collection of cans, clean cardboard, paper and plastic bottles. A brown bin has been provided for the collection of garden waste. A black box has also been provided for the collection of glass bottles & jars.

What is and what isn't allowed in your blue recycling bin

The following items are allowed in your blue recycling bin:

  • aluminium & steel cans
  • clean cardboard
  • paper
  • plastic bottles

The following items are not allowed in your blue recycling bin:

  • envelopes
  • garden waste
  • glass
  • plastic bags
  • nappies

What is and what isn't allowed in your brown recycling bin

The following items are allowed in your brown recycling bin:

  • all types of plant material
  • branches & twigs
  • grass cuttings
  • hedge trimmings
  • prunnings

The following items are not allowed in your brown recycling bin:

  • animal faeces
  • kitchen & vegetable waste
  • plastic bags
  • rubble
  • stones

What is and what isn't allowed in your black box

The following items are allowed in your black box:

  • glass bottles & jars

The following items are not allowed in your black box:

  • broken glass
  • drinking glasses
  • glass dishes
  • mirrors
  • plastic bags
  • pyrex

Your blue and brown bins will be collected every 4 weeks. Your black box and residual waste bin will be collected every 2 weeks. Please ensure that your bins/box are out on the kerbside by 7am on your collection day.
