Waste Aware Falkirk Kerbside Recycling

76% of you said you wanted to be able to recycle at home. Now you can.

A new three bin kerbside recycling service is being provided to allow residents of the Falkirk Council area to recycle most of their household waste. Blue bins will be provided to allow you to recycle your cans, paper and plastic bottles. Brown bins will also be provided to allow you to recycle your garden waste. The Larbert and Stenhousemuir areas have been the first areas to receive this new service, which will replace the existing Action Recycle recycling scheme.

However, this service has recently been expanded to cover the following areas: Banknock, Denny, Dennyloanhead, Dunipace, Fankerton, Haggs, Head of Muir, Longcroft and Stoneywood.

WHAT can be recycled using your BLUE bin?

Please place the following recyclates (materials that can be recycled) into your BLUE bin:

  • Cans (aluminium and steel cans including food, drink and pet food cans)
  • Paper (magazines, newspapers, brochures, junk mail, office paper and telephone directories)
  • Plastic bottles (plastic milk bottles, drinks bottles, shampoo and detergent bottles)

Please help us to get it sorted:

Do not place your recyclates into plastic bags as this makes the sorting process more difficult.

Please wash and squash cans and plastic bottles before placing them into your BLUE bin.

Do not place plastic containers, plastic food packaging, yoghurt cartons, bottle caps and tops or Yellow Pages directories into your BLUE bin.

Do not place glass into your BLUE bin. Please use your nearest glass recycling point.

It is important that only the correct recyclates go into your blue bin as only certain materials can be recycled at the reprocessing plant.

WHAT can be recycled using your BROWN bin?

Please put the following materials into your BROWN bin:

  • Flowers & plants
  • Garden prunings
  • Garden weeds
  • Grass clippings
  • Hedge trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Wood shavings

Please help us to get it sorted:

Do not put garden waste into plastic bags as these cannot be composted.

Do not place any rubble or soil into your BROWN bin.

Do not place any food waste including meat, fruit, vegetable and dairy waste into your BROWN bin.

WHEN will my bins be collected?

Your blue and brown bins will be collected on alternate fortnights.

When you have received your new blue and brown bins you will be able to recycle most of your household waste so the collection of your existing green bin will change to fortnightly.
