Inverurie Environment Day

A young boy from Inverurie was the proud winner of a windup/solar powered radio at the Inverurie Environmental Day on Saturday 24 July 2004.

Stuart Gullan, aged 9, won the radio after his entry in a word search competition was selected by a member of the public at the Waste Aware Aberdeenshire Caravan. The caravan was just one of the many stalls at the environmental day.

As the waste campaign message is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, the radio was chosen as an example of how to Reduce the number of batteries coming into the household.

Although the weather was mixed on the day, a good response

was received at the caravan with interest in the subsidised compost bins and green cones. Younger family members were given the chance to win t-shirts in a "Bin the Can" competition.

The Waste Aware caravan will be at the Aboyne Highland Games on Saturday 7 August 2004.
