Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section has been added to the Scottish Waste Awareness Group’s website at www.wascot.org.uk. The FAQ is designed to find the answer to the public’s most commonly asked questions about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The Reduce section gives handy tips on how to Reduce household waste and answers questions on all reduction topics such as composting, junk mail and excess packaging. You can also find tips on how to Reuse your waste, with information on ‘Real’ Nappies and buying goods that are made from recycled material.

In the Recycle section you can search for your query by material, e.g. plastic or glass. There is also information on bulky uplift services, kerbside recycling schemes and recycling centres and points in every Local Authority area in Scotland. The FAQ also contains useful contacts for each Local Authority area to help the public find out more, localised information.

The FAQ has been compiled using public enquiries logged by the Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) and enquiries received by several Local Authorities in Scotland over the last few years. The questions reflect the most common queries and concerns that the public have about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Vicky Armour, public enquiries officer says, “ We hope that the FAQ will be really useful in answering the public’s questions and helping the public find out more about how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle their waste”
