BROWN BINSCHEME
The City of Edinburgh Council operates this collection scheme. Currently around 94,500 households in Edinburgh have been provided with a brown bin for recycling garden waste, as detailed below:
Flowers & plants
Garden weeds
Grass clippings
Hedge trimmings
Leaves
Please note: There are a small number of properties where the vehicle cannot access for collection.
COLINTON COMMUNITY COMPOST BAGSCHEME
Colinton Community Compost Group operates this collection scheme. Currently around 600 households have been provided with a bag for garden waste, as detailed above.
As mentioned, part of the campaign involves the delivery of leaflets, which provide further details of the scheme. The leaflet aims to answer questions like 'WHO should recycle?', 'WHAT can I recycle?', 'WHY should I recycle?' and 'WHEN can I recycle?'.
