Campaign Launch

This campaign began in February 2004 with a Waste Aware Dumfries & Galloway teaser campaign to raise anticipation among the local residents.

The teaser campaign aimed to raise anticipation among residents of Dumfries and Galloway with the message 'If we did it 85% of you said you'd do it (We're starting Wednesday 3rd of March)'.

Current Scheme Information

BLUE BOX SCHEME
Currently approximately 65,280 households in Dumfries & Galloway have been provided with a blue box for recycling paper, as detailed below:
  • Contents of unwanted mail
  • General paper
  • Magazines
  • Newspaper
  • Office paper
  • White telephone directories

Part of the campaign involves the delivery of leaflets, which provide further details of the schemes. The leaflets aims to answer questions like 'WHO should recycle?', 'WHAT can I recycle?', 'WHY should I recycle?' and 'WHEN can I recycle?

Recent Campaign Phase

In November 2004, the main phase of the campaign was introduced to Nithsdale. This is when householders receive their blue box and are given the detailed information contained in the leaflet. The message was reinforced by press adverts.
