This campaign began in January 2005, introducing residents of Bute to a new recycling scheme for household waste.
Residents were introduced to the scheme through leaflets, which gave them the opportunity to opt into the scheme. A4 posters were also used to advertise the scheme.

GREEN BAG & WHITE BAG SCHEME
Currently 700 households in Bute have been provided with a green bag
for recycling cans, cartons and plastic bottles, and a white bag for
recycling cardboard, paper and textiles, as detailed below:

HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTION
Argyll & Bute Council in partnership with Shanks Argyll & Bute Ltd provide a collection service for hazardous household wastes, such as medicines, pesticides, insecticides, paints and other household chemicals. Please call 01700 505339 to arrange a collection.
If you have waste and are unsure if it is hazardous household waste, please call 01546 604 648 or 01546 604648.
As mentioned, part of the campaign involves the delivery of leaflets,
which provide further details of the schemes. The leaflets aims to
answer questions like 'WHO should recycle?', 'WHAT can I recycle?', 'WHY
should I recycle?' and 'WHEN can I recycle?
