Waste Aware East Dunbartonshire - Garden Waste Kerbside Recycling

On the 29 th of July 2004, a garden waste kerbside recycling service was made available for 38,000 households in East Dunbartonshire.

WHAT can I recycle?

The following items are allowed in your green bin:

  • Grass cuttings
  • Hedge cuttings
  • Plants
  • Leaves
  • Weeds
  • Branches up to 10cm (4") diameter.

The following items are not allowed in your green bin:

  • Kitchen waste or food of any kind.
  • Stones, soil or rubble
  • Plastic of any sort
  • Animal bedding, cat, dog litter
  • Wood treated in any way eg. With preservatives, paints, varnishes etc.
  • Wood contaminated with materials such as nails, other metal, plastic or fabrics
  • Any other refuse
WHEN can I recycle?

Details of your collection dates will be fixed to your bin.

WHY should I recycle?

The garden waste is turned into mulch or compost products that can be used on parks or gardens.
