Waste Aware Clackmannanshire - Kerbside Recycling

Thank you for helping us to get it sorted...

Thanks to the efforts of local residents, recycling in the Clackmannanshire Council area has increased by 110% since April 2004.

Vast amounts of your cans, glass and clear plastic bottles with the PET and HDPE symbols, have been recycled into new products.  Garden waste and cardboard have been composted together and used as a soil conditioner.

Cardboard and garden waste collection service

WHO

You have been provided with a brown bin to allow YOU to recycle your cardboard and garden waste.

WHAT

Please put the following materials into your brown bin:

  • Cardboard
  • Flowers & plants
  • Garden prunings
  • Garden weeds
  • Grass clippings
  • Hedge trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Wood shavings

Please help us to get it sorted – It’s very important that you place only cardboard and garden waste into your brown bin as these materials are composted.

  • Do not place your garden waste into plastic bags as these cannot be composted.
  • Do not place any plastics, polystyrene, rubble, soil or general household waste into your brown bin as these items cannot be composted.
  • Do not place any food waste including meat, fruit, vegetable and dairy waste into your brown bin.
  • Please remove tape and staples from cardboard before placing it into your brown bin.
WHY

Composting your cardboard and garden waste creates a soil fertilizer that is used for restoring land and improving soil quality.

WHEN

Your brown bin is emptied fortnightly on your normal collection day.

Domestic waste collection service

As your increased blue box and bag kerbside recycling service and new garden waste collection service will allow you to recycle most of your household waste collection of your existing green bin has changed to a fortnightly collection.

Example calendar:

Week one: Brown bin collection
Week two: Existing green bin collection
Week three: Brown bin collection
Week four: Existing green bin collection
