North Ayrshire Kerbside Recycling

The North Ayrshire Kerbside Recycling Collection began on the 15th March 2004. A black box has been provided for the collection of glass bottles and jars. A blue bag has also been provided for the collection of paper.

This service is now available to over 56,000 households in the following areas:  Kilbirnie, Beith, Dalry, Kilwinning, Skelmorlie, Largs, Fairlie, Seamill, West Kilbride, Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Irvine, Dreghorn, Springside, Broomlands, Bourtreehill and Girdletoll.

What is and what isn't allowed in your black box

The following items are allowed in your black box:

  • Glass bottles & jars

The following items are not allowed in your black box:

  • Broken glass
  • China
  • Light bulbs
  • Pyrex

 

What is and what isn't allowed in your blue bag

The following items are allowed in your blue bag:

  • Catalogues
  • Junk mail (no envelopes)
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • White directories
  • All other white paper

The following items are not allowed in your blue bag:

  • Cardboard
  • Envelopes
  • Yellow Pages

Your black box and blue bag will be collected fortnightly. On your collection day remove your lid from your kerbside box. Place your blue bag inside your black box and put it at the kerbside next to your wheelie bin on the morning of your collection. Please personalise your box to ensure you get your box back.
