Waste Aware East Renfrewshire - Dry Recyclate Kerbside Recycling

Thanks to the efforts of local residents, household waste recycling in the East Renfrewshire Council area has increased by 77% since the kerbside collection began on the 10th of November 2003.

Vast amounts of cans and glass, collected from your blue boxes, and paper, collected from your white hessian sacks, have been recycled into new products.

WHAT is and what isn't allowed in your Blue Box.

The following items are allowed in your Blue Box:

  • Cans - aluminium & steel
  • Glass - no broken glass please

Please rinse and squash your cans and rinse your glass and remove any lids before putting them into your Blue Box.

The following items are not allowed in your Blue Box:

  • Crockery
  • Drinking glasses
  • Light bulbs
  • Pyrex or strip lights

 

 
WHAT is and what isn't allowed in your White Hessian Sack.

The following items are allowed in your White Hessian Sack:

  • Paper - computer paper, contents of junk mail - no envelopes
  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Telephone directories inc. Yellow Pages
  • Card

The following items are not allowed in your White Hessian Sack:

  • Brown corrugated cardboard
  • Carbon paper
  • Envelopes
  • Food packaging
  • Plastic bags
WHEN

Your Blue Box and White Hessian Sack will be collected fortnightly. Please put your Blue Box and White Hessian Sack out together on the kerbside by 7.30am on your collection day.
