Recycling in the Clyde Valley area is mainly done via Recycling Centres and Points. There are also kerbside recycling collections in some areas. Click on the links below to find out what you can recycle in your area:


East Dunbartonshire

If you live in East Dunbartonshire, you can recycle the following items at
recycling centres and points near you:

  • batteries
  • cans
  • glass bottles and jars
  • paper
  • HDPE (number 2) plastic
  • textiles
  • used engine oil

In some parts of Bearsden and Bishopbriggs, there is a trial kerbside recycling collection. If you have a green bin you can recycle the following items in it:

  • cans
  • HDPE plastic
  • paper

Kerbside Recycling Collection: if you live in West Dunbartonshire, you may be able to recycle:

Inverclyde

If you live in one of the following areas, you can recycle some of your waste at the kerbside:

  • Cardwell Bay
  • Gourock
  • Greenock
  • Inverkip
  • Kilmacolm
  • Port Glasgow
  • Wemyss Bay

If you live in one of the above areas, you can recycle the following items in your GREEN bag or in a plastic carrier bag:

  • Catalogues
  • Contents of junk mail
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines

You can also place the following items in plastic bags on the kerbside at the same time:

  • Cans
  • Plastic bottles
  • Textiles

These will be collected for recycling.

North Lanarkshire

In North Lanarkshire you can recycle:

  • textiles

If you live in Viewpark, Tannochside or Fallside, you can recycle your green waste in your BioBag. Residents of Motherwell and parts of the Dalziel Estate can recycle green waste in their brown bin. Click here for more details of this scheme.

Householders in some areas of North Lanarkshire are currently able to recycle some of their waste in their blue bin. Please note that this scheme is changing and you will now be able to recycle paper only in your blue bin. For more details of this scheme, please click here.

Residents of North Lanarkshire can now recycle their glass via the North Lanarkshire Glass Kerbside Collection. For more details of this scheme, please click here.

Your grey household bin will now be collected weekly.

If you are planning a community project and wish to apply for funding from landfill tax credits, then North Lanarkshire Forward will be able to help you. They have also published a Community Guide to using recycled and reclaimed materials for such projects, so their website is well worth a visit.
